Look at eight areas of your life
- Each area has three sentences. You choose what is true for you.
- You do not get a score.
- Then you choose what you want to work on, and think of a first small step.
How it works
- You get eight areas, one per screen: from housing and money to the people around you. Each area has three sentences.
- For each sentence, choose what is true for you: not true, partly true, mostly true or completely true. If you do not want to answer a sentence, choose Skip.
- The drawing colours in as you go. The more is true, the more rings of that area are coloured in.
- Choose one or two areas you want to work on, and think of a first small step for each.
- Print your compass, or save it as a file, code or QR code. You can use that later to get it back and put two compasses side by side.
Choosing what to work on
An area with little coloured in does not have to be the one you work on. Sometimes you would rather start with something that is already going a bit well.
In a conversation
Ask follow-up questions: what do you think of with this sentence? Eight areas is a lot for one conversation, so skip what does not matter right now. The printout goes home with your client. With the QR code on it, you can get the compass back next time and put a new one next to it.
Again later
Do it again after a few weeks or months. At Done, choose Compare with an earlier compass and open your file or type your code. Then you see two drawings: then and now. For each area it says whether more, less or the same is coloured in.
Do you have the QR code from your printout? Point your phone’s camera at it. This page then opens with your compass from back then.
Good to know
- You can go back to an earlier area.
- Everything works with the keyboard. Use Tab to go to a sentence and the arrow keys to choose an answer.
- On a narrow screen there are numbers around the drawing. The list below shows which number is which area.
- You can also read the drawing without colour: what is coloured in has stripes.
- Are you worried about your health, your money or your safety? Talk about it with someone you trust, your GP or a care worker.
Your data
What you fill in stays in this page on your own device. Nothing is sent and nothing is saved in your browser. If you close or refresh the page, everything is gone.
- The file goes on your device, in the place you choose. Everything you filled in is in it, including what you typed for your steps.
- The code and the QR code contain the date, your answers and the areas you chose. They do not contain a name or anything you typed. Anyone who has the code or a photo of it can see your answers on this page. So only give it to someone who is allowed to see them.
- If you scan the QR code, your phone opens this page, just like any other visit. Your answers are not sent to us: they stay on your phone. The page never asks for your camera.
- If you choose ‘Save as PDF’ when printing, your compass is saved as a file on your device.
